Gundari

Gundari (軍荼利) is the fourth of the Pillar Gods that protect Bhikkhuni Island in Valkyrie Drive Bhikkhuni. She is, generally speaking, the true identity of the Director, who has her own body modified into a robotic-like being, which makes her the most mysterious and strongest elusive of the Pillar Gods, only to appear rarely.

As a Pillar God, she resembles a mechanical phoenix with her whole body entirely orange.

The four Pillar Gods train the Valkyries on the island of Bhikkhuni, with the goal for graduating being to ultimately defeat all four of them. Gundari is the fourth and final challenge.

However, towards the end of the game, Gundari is revealed to be none other than the Director. To that fact, there is no cure for the VR Virus, instead the Director and the remaining first generation of students had been taking the other Valkyries into their own body by using Drive to turn them into parts of their armor and weaponry. By taking so many students into their body, they became the gigantic Pillar Gods. While the students were transformed and part of them, they would be frozen in time and the virus would not affect them.

Gundari hoped to use the Pillar God system to protect the students until a true cure could be found, while also being strong enough to defend the island from outside threats.

Gundari's extreme plan is a result of her former partner, Echigoya, having been captured and experimented on to the point that she's not even sure how much of herself is organic and how much is a machine.

Gundari is a reference to the Vermilion Bird of the Four Auspicious Beasts from Chinese mythology.
Gundari shares the same voice actress with her Ikaruga, from Senran Kagura (a sister franchise from Marvelous).
Gundari's motif is a Phoenix, signifying to her Pillar God Form she assumed. This is also a reference to the following Kamen Riders with a Phoenix motif:
- Eiji Hino (A.K.A, Kamen Rider OOO)
- Ankh (A.K.A, Kamen Rider OOO Tajadol Combo Eternity)
- The Odin Users (A.K.A, Kamen Rider Odin)
  - In Kamen Rider Zi-O Spin-off - Rider Time: Kamen Rider Ryuki, Shiro Kanzaki is implied to be the final Odin.
